Xabi Alonso is a central midfielder currently playing for Real Madrid in the Spanish First Division. He is from Spain, beginning his career at Real Sociedad. He has also been on loan at SD Eibar when he was 20. In August 2004, Rafael Benitez's Liverpool signed Alonso for £10.5 million. In his first season at Anfield, he helped the side win the UEFA Champions League. In the summer of 2009 he moved to Real Madrid, for a fee of around £30m.

The Spainish maestro is known as a great passer of the ball, often the playmaker of the team. Alonso had his best ever season in a Red shirt, in the 08-09 season, many people believing he was Liverpool's best performer of the season.
