Shay Given is an Irish goalkeeper who currently plays for Manchester City. He signed for the club from Newcastle United in January 2009 for £5.9 Million pounds after 12 years with the north east club.
Regarded by many as one of the best goalkeepers in the league, and since Newcastle's fall from the heights of elite European competition, some are surprised that he hasn't be sought after by the big four. However, Given cited his desire to win something is his career as one of the reason for joining Man City, now that the club is well positioned financially to upset the balance in the Premier League top order.
