Rio Ferdinand is an English central defender who currently plays for Barclays Premier League club; Manchester United and also at International level with England. Regarded as being part of one of the best defensive outfits in the world alongside Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra, he has proven himself to be an integral part of the Manchester United and England set-ups. Further proof of this is the fact that he is also vice-captain for both his club and country. His pace at times lets him down, but with good heading, tackling, marking and strength attributes, he is seen by many as one of the best defenders in the game. He is a beast in the air, and will more likely than not be able to easily deal with any aerial threats.
