North Queensland Fury FC are a new team that is confirmed to enter the Hyundai A-League in the 2009/2010 season of the Australian league. They will join the league with the club Gold Coast United expanding the league to ten teams.
Previous Bid
I previous bid for a North Queensland team was after the New Zealand Knights were dropped form the competition. But the A-League opted for Wellington Phoenix instead to keep a New Zealand club in the competition. But the proposed team of North Queensland Thunder stayed on and was thought to enter in the 2008/2009 season but a financial backer left in March 2008 and the bid fell through as did Gold Coast's.
