Gareth Barry started his career at Brighton & Hove Albion, before moving to Aston Villa in 1997, he has gone on to make over 300 appearances for Villa. In the summer of 2008 Barry was stripped of the captain's armband because he admitted he would like to move to Liverpool.

In summer 2009, Barry moved to Manchester City on a five year contract, for a fee of £12 Million.
