Background

FIFA 09 is the latest installment in the FIFA series. The release date for the demo game is scheduled for September the 11th for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. It will also be released for all other major formats, including PC, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, and will even be available as a game on mobile phones.

Leagues, Teams and Stadiums

EA Sports have announced that there will be over 500 licensed teams in the game and about 30 leagues. There are also going to be 40 national teams, the same as in the predecessor FIFA 08. There are speculated to be 15 new stadiums unseen in FIFA 08. A complete list of all teams and their in-game strength and ratings can be found here: FIFA 09 Teams List.

New Features

The Playstation 3 version of the game is set to have an unnamed new game mode. In the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows versions, Adidas Live Season will be introduced. Real life form and injuries will affect there abilities. But you have to pay extra. However each purchase entitles a 'trial', where the customer can select one league they wish select for the Adidas Live Season. This will be updated free of charge.

Be a Pro will now also take a new feature called Be a Pro season which lasts for four seasons. You play for a club in the bid to make it to the top, acting out a career like a proper player.

User controlled celebrations have been added allowing users to do their own celebration after scoring a goal. This feature was first introduced in EA's official Euro 2008 game. There is a vast array of celebrations to choose from.

Another new feature is the Arena. When matches are loading or before going to the main menu you take control of a certain player and can shoot against a goalkeeper.
